Studio Policies

Welcome to my piano studio! I’m so honored to help you or your child grow musically. Whether we’re preparing classical repertoire or learning your favorite Taylor Swift song, lessons are designed to inspire progress, confidence, and joy. Below, you’ll find important studio policies that keep everything running smoothly for all of us.

**Currently only offering Virtual Lessons**

🎼 PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS

Developing musical skill takes consistency, care, and a little structure. Here’s what you can expect—and what I expect in return:

  • Method & Repertoire: I primarily teach from the Bastien Piano Basics series. Starting at Level 1, we begin incorporating classical performance pieces to build musical fluency and artistry. Students are also welcome to request popular music, which I’m happy to include.

  • Practice Routine: Students should practice at least 5 days a week, beginning with 20 minutes a day and increasing over time as their skills grow.

  • Materials: Students must bring their method books and any sheet music to each lesson. Music should be kept organized in either bound books or a clearly labeled binder.

  • Assignment Tracking: I provide each student with a practice notebook, where we log goals, exercises, and weekly assignments. Please bring this to every lesson.

  • Parental Support: For younger students, parent involvement—like gentle reminders and encouragement—can make a huge difference in maintaining consistency and motivation.

❌ CANCELLATION & ATTENDANCE POLICY

Life is full and sometimes unpredictable. I do my best to be flexible while maintaining professional consistency.

  • Notice: Lessons may be cancelled with at least 4 hours’ notice or any time due to illness and will be credited to the next month’s tuition.

  • Last-Minute Cancellations: Cancellations with less than 4 hours’ notice (excluding illness) will forfeit that lesson with no refund or credit.

  • Rescheduling: I can only offer rescheduling on a case-by-case basis depending on availability that week.

  • Vacation & Summer: Lessons continue year-round, including summer months. If you plan to be away for vacation or an outing, please notify me as soon as possible so I can adjust billing accordingly.

  • Studio Closures: The studio will be closed:

    • The week of Thanksgiving

    • The week of Christmas

    • The week of New Year’s

    • All federal holidays

  •

  • Missed Lesson Credits: Each student is allowed 8 credited absences per year (excluding holidays and studio closures) for illness, travel, or emergency, as long as proper notice is given.

🌟 RECITALS & PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Sharing music is a vital part of learning and building confidence.

  • Recitals are offered 1–2 times per year, either in person or virtually over Zoom.

  • Participation is optional, but encouraged!

  • Dates and times are arranged based on student and family availability.

Recitals are a celebration of progress, and a low-pressure opportunity for students to share their gifts with loved ones.

🎶 FINAL NOTE

Thank you so much for choosing me as your teacher. My deepest hope is that every student in my studio walks away from each lesson feeling encouraged, capable, and more in love with music. If you ever have questions, need to shift goals, or want to explore new musical directions, I’m always just an email or message away.

Let’s create something beautiful together!

Warmly,
